Bunny’s Book Club by Annie Silvestro

Bunny’s Book Club (2017, Doubleday Books for Young Readers) by Annie Silvestro and illustrated by Tatjana Mai-Wyss is a lovely book that I enjoyed reading to my little one. My little guy’s not old enough to obtain his own library card yet, but this is a perfect children’s picture book for those little ones you know who are.

Silvestro’s debut picture book, Bunny’s Book Club tells the story of an inquisitive bunny who discovers the library.  After sneaking in through the book return, bunny finds numerous books and falls in 645px-Love_Heart_SVG.svg with reading.

Animal friends inquire about what bunny is up to, and bunny rallies the troops to show them all the book return. After shoving the likes of porcupines into the book return, bunny shows his friends the way. All bunny’s friends find books on the topics they love.

In addition to a wonderful story that inspires a passion for reading, this text is beautifully illustrated. Mai-Wyss’s pastel color palette is absolutely stunning. Click here for some of the illustrations. You might also enjoy looking at Mai-Wyss’s online sketchbook.

Next year in my children’s literature course, I am going to have my students create illustrations based on an illustrator of their choice. Mai-Wyss will definitely be one of the illustrators I recommend my students look at.

Bunny’s Book Club should be on the bookshelves of all book lovers – young and old!

  1. Love the illustrations! There is a delicate touch that reminds me of this great 3-dimensional paper sculptor named Diana Beltran Herrera (Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/dianabeltranherrera/?hl=en). I love the porcupine in the images on the link.
