My family and I enjoyed looking at all of the creatures in this colorful book, arranged chronologically to help readers journey through extinct animals from 541 millions of years ago to closer to the present day, i.e., 0.01 million years ago!
We especially loved learning about the Ornimelgalonyx, an owl that was more than 3 feet tall! And we were intrigued (read: a wee bit scared) to see the teeth on the biggest shark ever known to live: the Helicoprion.
As a color enthusiast, I was happy to read that animals from long ago were perhaps more colorful than we think!
A great nonfiction book for younger children (who will enjoy Sewell’s illustrations) and older readers, who will enjoy all of the interesting facts!
Forgotten Beasts earns four starts. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
