Happy October, Y’all! I did my first Halloween candy shopping haul this weekend! What is your favorite candy?
Writer Lynne Marie and illustrator David Rodriguez Lorenzo‘s Moldilocks and the Three Scares: A Zombie Tale (out this past August from Sterling) is a treat! Remixing Goldilocks into a modern-day adoption story, this scary tale will leave you frightened and smiling!
Papa Scare has just made some soup for Mama and Baby Scare. But when the soup is too hot, the family decides to take a walk with the dog Plasma. At the same time, Moldilocks is walking alone outside when she smells something she has not smelled in a while: home.
She enters the Scare home, trying out the soup, chairs, and the bed – until she finds one that’s “just right.” But when the Scare family returns they are anything but their namesake, for they have been waiting for another little one to join their family: “A little ghoul is the perfect addition to our family!”
I usually do not like scary stories or stories with ghouls. But this one is so very cute – and I know parents and young readers will enjoy this one for many Halloweens to come!
A ghoulish, endearing adoption tale, Moldilocks and the Three Scares: A Zombie Tale earns five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
